Veneers in Yerevan
Ceramic veneers hide chips, stains and minor irregularities of the front teeth and protect the enamel from further damage. Their shape and shade are matched to your smile.
A veneer is a thin ceramic shell bonded to the visible surface of a tooth, wrapping slightly over its sides and biting edge. Veneers can transform the whole smile or correct individual teeth: hide chips and cracks, stains and discolouration that whitening cannot remove, close small gaps and slightly even out the shape.
Veneers are placed on the front teeth that show when you smile — the incisors, canines and premolars of the upper and lower jaws. Before bonding, the doctor removes a thin layer of enamel, just the thickness of the future veneer, preserving as much of the natural tooth as possible. For minor defects light polishing is sometimes enough; this is decided after the examination.
Ceramic reproduces the natural translucency and shade of enamel, does not change colour from food and drinks and does not absorb odours. A dental technician makes the veneers from impressions of your teeth — by layering ceramic, by pressing or by milling from a solid ceramic block. The method is chosen for the clinical situation, and the shade is matched to the neighbouring teeth.
Veneers are not for everyone. If a tooth is badly damaged or has a large filling, a crown is more reliable; with bruxism or a pronounced bite problem, orthodontic treatment comes first. The prosthodontist at iOrtho in Yerevan will examine your teeth, listen to your wishes and suggest the right solution — book a consultation.
Benefits
A natural look
Ceramic mimics the shade, lustre and translucency of natural enamel, so veneers look like your own teeth.
Lasting colour
Ceramic does not stain from food and drinks, does not absorb odours and keeps its shade with proper care.
Gentle preparation
Only a thin layer of enamel is removed — the thickness of the veneer — and for small defects light polishing is sometimes enough.
Quick to get used to
Veneers need no long adaptation, usually do not affect speech and are easy to keep clean.
Enamel protection
The shell covers damaged enamel and protects the tooth from further breakdown and irritants.
Indications
- Chips and cracks on the front teeth
- Stains, darkening and other discolouration that whitening cannot remove
- Slightly crooked or unevenly shaped teeth
- Gaps between the teeth — a diastema or spacing
- Sensitive front teeth with damaged enamel
- Wanting a brighter, more harmonious smile without whitening
Treatment stages
- 1.
Consultation and diagnostics
The prosthodontist examines your teeth, discusses your wishes and assesses your bite. Where indicated, a CT scan helps detect hidden problems before work begins.
- 2.
Preparing the mouth
Caries and gum problems are treated if needed; a bite problem may call for orthodontic correction first. If there are no contraindications, a professional cleaning is enough.
- 3.
Design and mock-up
A model of the future smile is made from impressions or a 3D scan, and the shade and translucency are selected. A mock-up is made from a temporary material: you judge the shape and look, and the doctor makes adjustments if needed.
- 4.
Tooth preparation and temporary veneers
The doctor gently prepares the enamel and takes precise impressions for the dental technician. While the permanent veneers are being made, temporary ones protect the teeth and keep your smile looking good.
- 5.
Bonding the veneers
The doctor removes the temporaries, prepares the tooth surfaces and bonds the permanent veneers with a strong dental material, checking that they fit closely.

Care rules
Daily hygiene
Brush twice a day on all sides, not forgetting the spaces between the teeth. Use a soft brush, interdental brushes, a water flosser and a non-abrasive toothpaste so as not to scratch the ceramic.
Professional cleaning
Have one every 3–4 months: a veneer protects only the front surface of the tooth, and on the inside the tooth is still vulnerable to plaque and tartar.
Careful with hard food
Do not bite nuts, crackers or hard candy with your front teeth — excessive force can chip a veneer.
A yearly check-up
See your prosthodontist once a year so they can check the condition of the veneers.
Questions and answers
Do teeth have to be prepared for veneers?
As a rule, yes: light preparation of the enamel lets the veneer hold securely, fit closely at the gum line and not look bulky. Only a minimal layer is removed — the thickness of the veneer. For small defects light polishing is sometimes enough; the doctor decides after the examination.
Can a veneer be placed on just one tooth?
Yes. A single veneer is often used to repair a chip or crack, hide a stain or darkening that whitening cannot remove, or correct the shape of one tooth. The shade is chosen so that the veneer blends in with the neighbouring teeth.
How long does it take to get veneers?
If no prior treatment is needed, at least three visits are required: the consultation, tooth preparation with impressions and temporary veneers, then the try-in and bonding of the permanent ones. Permanent veneers take on average 7 to 14 days to make, depending on the material and technique.
Can a veneer come off?
If you follow the care and diet rules, as a rule it does not. A veneer usually comes off when the bonding technique was not followed — for example, it was placed on a tooth with caries or over a large filling. That is why the teeth are carefully prepared first. If a veneer does come off, do not try to glue it back yourself — book an appointment with your doctor.
Who are veneers not suitable for?
If a tooth is badly damaged, has a large filling or a fracture, a crown is usually needed. With bruxism (teeth grinding) or a severe bite problem veneers can fail early, so orthodontic treatment comes first. Caries and gum inflammation are treated before the veneers are placed.
